More Flights Make it Easier for Brits to Visit their Spanish Holiday Homes

Aircraft of Vueling AirlinesMore flights from the UK are making it easier for Britons to visit their Spanish holiday homes this year.

Getting to a second home in Spain is set to get much easier for Brits this year, with a wide range of new flights being launched to the Costas.

The new routes couldn’t come soon enough, considering that Spain enjoyed a record year for foreign tourism in 2016 and is now the world’s third most visited country. The sunny European spot attracted a staggering 75.3m international visitors last year – up by 9.9% on 2015.

“Extra flights are especially beneficial to British owners who rent out their Spanish home,” says Elaine Ferguson, Head of the Resource Centre at the Overseas Guides Company. “Good flight connections and short transfer times put you at an advantage when letting your home in the sun, and destinations such as the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol are hard to beat for that.”

Murcia and the Costa Blanca

British Airways is bringing Murcia and the southern Costa Blanca closer to the UK with a twice-weekly London Heathrow flight to Murcia’s San Javier airport, starting from 28th March.

Just a 25-minute drive from San Javier in the friendly Costa Blanca resort of Punta Prima is Taylor Wimpey España’s new beachfront development of La Recoleta. Two and three-bedroom apartments with private terraces and Mediterranean views are waiting to be snapped up by eager buyers!

Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma

Other airports adding new UK flights include Spain’s budget airline Vueling, which has introduced a major expansion in passenger capacity on flights from Cardiff Airport for the summer season.

Following strong demand, 190,812 seats are now on sale for flights to Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Palma between April and October.

Ryanair is also offering three weekly flights to Alicante from Glasgow this year.

Malaga and the Costa del Sol

Meanwhile, Thomas Cook has introduced new flights to Malaga from Manchester Airport as of January 2017. Malaga is the gateway to the Costa del Sol, which is home to famous resorts, such as Marbella, Benalmadena, Puerto Banus and Fuengirola, and one of the world’s top golfing hotspots.

Ryanair’s expansion from Glasgow also includes four weekly flights to Malaga.

And if you’ve bought a holiday home in Valencia, you’ll be pleased to learn that, this month, easyJet is launching a new route from Luton Airport.

For those who haven’t yet purchased a second home in Spain, but have been inspired after a recent visit, now couldn’t be a better time to invest!
