Holidaymakers look to Sotogrande for Spanish Sea and Sun

SotograndeAs clothes, music and cars go in and out of fashion, so do holiday destinations.

One year, a white Ford Fiesta is seen to be sleek and stylish, and the next it’s the latest in the Audi ‘A’ series in silver. Locations around Europe go through the same transitions, but we are pleased to hear that Spain is back!

Cities throughout the country serving as vacation hotspots for UK holidaymakers since the 1960s, but there has been a continuous shift in popularity.

After creating new homes in the area of Sotogrande, Spanish homebuilder Taylor Wimpey España has especially noticed a renaissance of interest from Brits looking to move abroad.

Marc Pritchard, Taylor Wimpey España’s Sales and Marketing Director, has commented: “We saw a major influx of expats back in the 1970s and many of those moving to Spain from the UK chose to settle in the upscale Sotogrande area.

“Over the years, Sotogrande slowly fell out of fashion, but now it’s back with a vengeance! There are some beautiful new homes springing up in this area, with demand driving the development of a new wave of luxury dwellings.”

Sotogrande is most well known as the host of numerous polo tournaments, as well as the Ryder Cup in 1997. Many famous visitors have also been attracted to the area, including members of the British royal family, Labour politician Tony Blair, and Gibraltar’s Chief Minister Peter Caruana.

There’s currently plenty of choice, when it comes to properties for sale in Sotogrande. On Rightmove Overseas we’ve seen a one-bed apartment for sale for as little as €99,000, which comes with a garage space and access to a communal pool and garden.

For the big spenders reading this article, you may be more interested in an eight-bed villa, with eight bathrooms, a swimming pool, and sea and mountain views. We were even more impressed to learn that it has a games, cinema and opera room… This beauty is currently on the market for €11,000,000!
